Fort the most part, his legal practice is connected with matters pertaining to criminal law.
In 1996, he successfully promoted the first merger of the firm with the aim to expand areas of legal practice.
Xavier Zavala Egas, whose doctoral thesis deserved the highest grade and a recommendation for publication, has occupied high positions in the administration of justice. In 1999, he was appointed Member of the First Panel of the Superior Court of Guayaquil (Appellate Court), and in 1991 he was designated President of that Superior Court. From 1997 to 1998 he was a member of the Anticorruption Commission of Ecuador, and since 1995 he has been an arbitrator for the Arbitrator and Conciliation Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil and for the Guayaquil Stock Exchange.
Since 1984, he holds the chair of Criminal Law at the Universidad Católica de Guayaquil School of Law, of which he was elected Dean in 1998, Director in 1993, and Editor-in-Chief of the school’s law journal in 1995. Heeding his calling for a keen interest in national affairs, he became a syndicated columnist for several Ecuadorian periodicals and has published two seminal books on jurisprudence. |
